SHORT FILMS
'MAGICAL FILM'- using editing to make surrealism, jump cuts to make the overall film more realistic in that the unreal is happening. Our film was inspired by What's new Scooby Doo since we wanted to create the iconic theme intro where the characters run through doors and corridors to escape monsters. We filmed each individual scene running from one place to another, in the editing of it we cut out dead space where nothing was happening so it had fluidity. The outcome wanted was to make the film look like the characters were popping out of random spaces. Finishing touches to the film were adding a slightly green tinted filter and the theme song from the show with sound effects. It worked well since it had the comedic and comic effect, light could have been thought of more since it would make it more dramatic to suit the monster theme like in the show. Yet it was good use of frame and depth since the characters were far away and then close to the screen.
ONE TAKE FILM- The aim of this film was to create a film in one take. The only editing that could be done was using filters or music. This film was a comedic motive, a change was needed in the film and the inspiration for this idea was Japanese anime. Anime is over exaggerated and very visual with dramatic character involvement. The change in this was a trolley race where one contestant over took the other. It is a kind of mick take idea of anime emphasising the dramatic over small issues, this being the dramatic feelings of the contestant wanting to win the trolley race which was heightened by the zooming frames and voice overs in Japanese (which I read myself from Google Translate). What gave it the anime feel wanted was the mostly the music since it is energetic and links to the emotions of the video, it is also small things that help also such as having the english subtitles in yellow which is an iconic feature of english subbed anime. It would be better if there was a better quality camera we had access to and also had the video filmed landscape so it filled out the screen more and could capture more action in higher quality.
